Who am I?

Gavin Austin

BA Studio Art - Sculptor

A Sculptor -

From Process to Product

Graduating Principia College in 2021, Gavin is a sculptor that focuses on figurative work. Discovering a passion for stonework in 2017, he culminated his education with a capstone carving alabaster figures to represent the story of Jacob from Genesis.
Although the past holds a focus of the final product in his work, Gavin tries to lock in on process and revel in the making of a piece instead of racing to the finish.
In 2020, Gavin joined the Saint Louis Arts Chamber of Commerce and has had work in three shows, including the Wood River Juried Arts Show in 2019.
Recently opening his studio space again, Gavin is looking forward to entering work in more shows in the near future.

About Me

I am an artist at heart. I graduated college with a major in sculpture, focusing on stone sculpture, but have drifted away from large 3D pieces in recent years. Now my time is focused with a needle in hand instead of a hammer. I've found a true joy in embroidery and I hope I can share that with all of you.
